Mrs. Shiflet was born on October 28, 1912 in Denison where she spent her childhood, received her education and married Charles O. Shiflet on March 2, 1929. She has lived in San Antonio, New Orleans, and Evanston, Wyoming where she was co-owner and operator of Wyoming Railway Car Shop for ten years. She was a past member of the Abilene Women's Club, a member of 11th & Willis Church of Christ, Abilene Garden Club, and several civic organizations including certification in the National Security Seminar.
Her parents, Joe Thompson and Hattie Grossman Thompson and her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Donald J. Shiflet of Abilene; two grandsons, John Charles Shiflet of St. Joseph, Missouri, and David Oliver Shiflet of Naharia, Israel; a special granddaughter-in-law, Rachal Cohen of Abilene and numerous great grand-children.
In lieu of flowers memorial suggestions are Christian Homes of Abilene, 1202 Estates Dr., Abilene, TX 79602; or Rescue the Animals, 4620 N. 1st, Abilene, TX 79603.
