Anna "Anne" A. Affelder, 99, of Canton, beloved wife of the late Lewis C. Affelder passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. Born in Southwick, MA., daughter of the late Zelindo and Lena Salvadori, she came to Avon, CT. at the age of 7 and lived there for over 90 years. She held positions at Veeder-Root Mfg, Allstate and retired from the State of Connecticut in the Tax Department. Her father was one of the founders of the Prince Thomas of Savoy Society in Avon where she was a member of the Women's Auxiliary for many years and her true joy was teaching new members how to make Italian pasta from scratch. She was proud of her Italian heritage and often loved to share stories of "the old days", sharing close to 100 years of Italian history of family, friends and events that happened in her community that felt more like family than it did friends. Anne enjoyed writing letters detailing the going ons and would make it her mission to find cards in Italian for her friends and relatives. She was a communicant of the Church of Saint Ann where she sang in the choir for many years. Her love for singing would carry over into the kitchen, where she could almost always be found. Her love for cooking, especially for family and friends, was at the center of her life and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends be it in Avon or on Cape Cod in Wellfleet, MA. If Anne wasn't singing, she could be found dancing, and would often have to pull her late husband, Lewis Affelder, to the dance floor. Anne leaves behind her daughter Joan Gould and her husband Michael of Canton, with whom she made her home in her final years. She also leaves behind her son, Robert L. Affelder and his wife Christina of Ocean Pines, MD. Anne leaves behind her grandchildren Zachary, Jessica and Audrey along with her great-grandchildren Mia and Hadley. After living a long life, Anne also has numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews whom she regularly kept in contact with. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, May 7th from 3-6 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 8th at 11:00 am at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon, CT., with the Burial following at Saint Ann Cemetery. Contributions may be made to either the Church of Saint Ann or the Women's Scholarship Fund of Prince Thomas of Savoy, Avon, CT. For directions or condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhomes.com. The family would also like to thank the numerous doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals at the McLean Home and St. Francis for their tremendous love and care (and who even came to call Anne as "Grandma"), to which Anne would not have enjoyed the long life that she did.
