Nannie Arbutus Jones, 86, of Sissonville, born May 10, 1937, passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2023, where she resided for 47 years. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Doshie and Hayden Walker, who were waiting for her at the gates with our Father, her husband, Bernard Ray Jones, and many others gone before her. Nannie was the last living of 13 children. She was a loving mother of 5, Dennis and Sandra Haynes of Sissonville, Randy and Mary Jones of North Charleston, Lonnie Jones of Teays Valley, Rita Taylor of Sissonville and Kimberly and Kevin Daugherty of Cross Lanes; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Nannie enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, church, music and dancing around her living room, and cooking big meals for her Sunday dinners. The family would like to say a special thank you to her niece, Karen Thaxton and hospice for caring for her in her final days. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville, with Pastor John Henderson, officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville.
