CONCORD, Mass., March 1 (AP) -- Andrew H. Hepburn, whose architectural firm, Perry, Shaw Hepburn, took a major role in the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg, Va., died last night at his home. He was 86 years old.

Born March 6, 1880 in Catasauqua, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, to Robert Hopewell Hepburn and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Hunt) Hepburn. Brother of Gwenllian Hepburn, Joshua Hunt Hepburn, and George Hunt Hepburn.

First married 1907 to Beatrice Outram Sturgis, daughter of Russell Sturgis and Anne Outram (Bangs) Sturgis. Edward Bangs was Beatrice's maternal grandfather. Russell Sturgis was a descendant of Nathaniel Russell Sturgis.

Andrew Hopewell Hepburn and Beatrice Outram (Sturgis) Hepburn had two children, Andrew Hepburn (1910-1999), and Russell Sturgis Hepburn (1912-1934) called "Sturgis". Beatrice died 1921 in Concord, Massachusetts.

Married 1941, Rosamond Sturgis (Dixey) Brooks. Recently divorced from Gorham Brooks II, the father of her four children. She was a daughter of Richard Cowell Dixey and Ellen Sturgis (Tappan) Dixey. Her maternal grandparents were William Aspinwall Tappan and Caroline "Cary" (Sturgis) Tappan. She was the niece of Mary Aspinwall Tappan. Rosamond Sturgis (Dixey) Brooks Hepburn died in 1948. No children of this marriage.

Andrew's third wife was Rosamond (Borland) White, daughter of William Gibson Borland and Lucy Sturgis (Codman) Borland, and the widow of Peter Desmond White, of New York. Rosamond married Mr. Hepburn in 1950. They did not have children. Rosamond, widow of Andrew Hopewell Hepburn (1880-1967) died in 2002. Burial with her late husband and his family, Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

Andrew Hopewell Hepburn had a distinguished career in architecture. He died on February 28, 1967 at his home in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Survived by third wife Rosamond (née Borland) and one child only, his son Andrew (1910-1999). Also survived by grandchildren, stepchildren, and extended family.

"Thomas Mott Shaw and Andrew Hepburn of Concord were partners and architects for the restoration of colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. (Hepburn lived in the brick colonial at the corner of Lowell Road and Barretts Mill Road known locally as the Hildreth House after the generations of the Hildreth family who lived there.)"
