Harry R. DeHaven, 91, Seminary Manor, Galesburg, IL, went home to be with Christ his Savior at 3:13 AM on July 25, 2023, after his battle with cancer.

He was born January 17, 1932, in LaHarpe, IL to Gervase "Cappy" and Vada Alexander DeHaven. He graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1950 and moved shortly thereafter to Macomb, IL. He began his electrician career at Purdum Electric, where he earned his internship. He met and later married Lola Mae Graves in Macomb, IL on June 25, 1958. Soon after, they moved to Galesburg. Harry continued as a union electrician all his working years in or near the Galesburg area until his retirement in 1997. He was a born-again Christian and faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, a brother-in-law Gene Watson of Macomb, and seven nieces and nephews: Rodney and Roger Harrell of Kewanee, David Harrell of Cottonwood, AZ, Teresa Craig of Galva, Rita (Mike) Dorethy, Kyle Watson of Macomb, and Elgin (Kristine) Watson of Kildeer, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepson Steve Graves, one brother Howard DeHaven, and 2 sisters- Beverly Harrell and Carol Watson.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM, Friday, July 28, 2023, at Harmony Baptist Church, 746 North Hawkinson, Galesburg. Visitation will be one hour prior, Friday, July 25, 2023, at the church. Rev. Chris Nissley will officiate. Military rites will be conducted at the church by the Knox County Honor Guard. Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Monday, July 31, 2023, at Oakwood Cemetery, 1027 Randolph, Macomb. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Knoxville have been assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be donated to Harmony Baptist Church or OSF Hospice.
