Vernon Byron Hale, son of the late James Warner and Florence (Hicks) Hale, was born November 9, 1927, in Ozark County, Missouri, and departed this life March 30, 2022, in the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital, Columbia, Missouri, following a short illness. He was 94 years, 4 months, and 21 days of age.

Vernon grew up in Ozark County. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan. Vernon spent many years driving a truck, moving people from coast to coast. He also spent time as a carpenter while living in San Francisco.

In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins, tinkering with vehicles and motorcycles and reading western novels. He liked hunting deer and squirrel and riding through the countryside on 4-wheelers. Vernon was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Vernon is survived by two sons, Larry Hale of Buda, Texas, and Terry Hale and wife, Mary, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one daughter, Deborah Webb of Republic, Missouri, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces, as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
