Ashtabula-Callie T. Shumate, 84, of Ashtabula, died Sunday October 20, 2002, at Hospice of Ashtabula.
Born 1918 in Ivanhoe, Va., she was the daughter of Burtam and Lemme (Bedwell) Wright, and has lived in Ashtabula since 1944.
Mrs. Shumate attended Edgewood Church of Nazarene in Ashtabula. She enjoyed reading, embroidering, gardening and flowers, especially roses.
Her survivors include: nine children; Pam Ashley, Sally Shumate, David all of Ashtabula, Barbara Jackson of Dangerfield, TX, Harry of Stockton, TX, Jimmy of Dallas, TX, Emmett & Freddie both of Irving, TX and C. Ritchie of Duncanville, TX, twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-three great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Sherm Wright of Ivanhoe, VA. & Hershel Wright of Winston Salem, NC., two sisters, Dorothy Waller of Ivanhoe, VA and Margaret Stoneman of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon in 1980; one sister Kathleen King; Three brothers, Lorain, Paul, Kelly; three grandchildren, Mack Kelly, Callie Mason and Robin Moore.
A service will be held Friday October 25, 2002 at Reese Funeral Home in Austinville, VA. Burial will be in Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery, Ivanhoe, VA.
Calling hours will be Tuesday October 22, 2002 from 7-9 pm at Zaback-Czup, 500 West Prospect Ave., Ashtabula.
