Mrs. Ella Crockett Gordon, age 85, died Friday, May 19 1989 at Houston Community Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 24 at Bethlehem M B Church. Burial was in Ross Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Crawford officiating.

The daughter of the late Elliott Hill and the late Mary Crockett, she was born in Houston December 30 1903. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem M B Church, where she was Mother of the Church, a member of the Senior Choir and a Senior Missionary. She was the widow of the late Herbert Gordon.

Survivors include eight daughters, Mrs. Maggie Mae Jones and Mrs. Dollie Mae Griffis, both of Houston, Mrs. Ollie Lee Johnson of Erie, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Elaine Moore, Mrs. Ophelia Wofford and Mrs. Derline Gordon, all of Springfield, Illinois, Mrs. Bonnie Hargrove and Mrs. Cornelia Woodard, both of Columbus; three sons, Angelo Gordon of Erie, Pennsylvania, Alpha Gordon of Springfield, Illinois and Omega Gordon of Beloit, Wisconsin; one sister, Mrs. Jeanie Moffett of Gulfport; 53 grandchildren; 76 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one brother-in-law, Robert Gordon of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Fannie Lee Gordon of St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Mattie Gordon of Racine, Wisconsin and Mrs. Cornelia Graham of Albany, New York and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers, and six sisters preceded her in death.
