Emily Ruth Johnson, age 85 passed away on June 21, 2019. She was born in Washington DC (daughter of John and Emily Gramlich) and in the early 1950s moved from Arlington, VA to Gulfport, FL where she met her husband, Bill whom she was married to for 55 years upon his death in 2012. She had one daughter, Charlotte A. Johnson-Hunter born in 1963.

She was a Bookkeeper for Allstate Insurance Company for 35 years and then worked helping her daughter, Charlotte and Son in Law, Jim run their on-line store, Parrot-Fan-Alia and then their store, Wild Time Caribbean Trading Co. She did everything from shipping to all of their bookkeeping. She was a Christian and belonged to Central Christian Church and Seminole Baptist Church.

She was an active member of Laureate Gamma Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She joined in 1955 and upon reaching 60 years of service, received her Diamond Circle Ritual and held the highest degree of Torchbearer. She held all offices in her chapter and also several offices within the St Pete Sunshine City Council, including President twice. She won many awards within her chapter and was selected City Council Ideal Sister in 1998. She started a Nu Phi Mu chapter in 1980 so that her daughter, Charlotte could join Beta Sigma Phi and they shared the joys of belonging to this organization up to the day of her passing.

Two other achievements were Sales Leader of the Year for Tiara Glassware and obtaining her Interior Decorating Certification from La Salle University.

She loved to read, do jigsaw puzzles, paint, watch football and NASCAR racing. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and any and every show on the Home and Garden TV channel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Johnson-Hunter; son-in-law, Jim Hunter; and sister, Alice St. John.

Donations may be made in her memory to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760.

Emily's Memorial Service (including Beta Sigma Phi Memorial Ritual) will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Church Seminole located at 6155 113th Street, Seminole, FL.
