Gene E. Wunder, 82, formerly of Junction City, KS, passed away in El Centro, CA on February 5, 2022. Graveside inurnment services will be held on Friday, July 28th, 2023, at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with military honors provided by the U S Navy Honor Guard and members of the American Legion, Post 45. Chaplain Linda Lewis will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

He was born on October 30, 1939, Junction City, Kansas to Otto and Lelia Mae (Benning) Wunder.

He joined the Navy January 16, 1958 and retired April 1, 1977 in San Diego, CA and made his life there.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Langvardt of Junction City, KS and his sister-in-law, Eldora Wunder of Vermillion, SD; his nieces and nephews, Lori (Mike) Charland of Fort Worth, TX, Amy (Jason) Rathbone of Weaverville, NC, Brenda (Les) Isom of Manhattan, KS, Roger Sheaffer and Kenny Sheaffer, Tim (Kathy) Wunder, niece-in-law, Barb Wunder all of Junction City, KS, Terry (Lisa) Wunder of Girard, KS, Tony (Sarah) Wunder of Vermillion, KS and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, William Wunder and Carl "Bud" Wunder, his sisters, Wanda Cohen, Gloria Hayter, Marcine Sheaffer and Jackie Langvardt, his niece, Tracey Foreman and nephew, Michael R. Wunder and his brothers-in-law, Earl Hayter, and Dave Sheaffer.
