Rush Springs: Laura Miller left this earth on April 17, 2010 in her hometown of Rush Springs, where she had been a resident since the age of three. Laura will be missed by numerous loved ones who saw her as a source of strength and guidance. She enjoyed riding on the back of a motorcycle, feeling the freedom of the road with her partner of fifteen years, Jim L. Mills. She loved reading books, attending concerts, and spending time with the people she loved. Laura was a protective, supportive, proud mother to her children, Raye (Crabb) Shilen, Craig Crabb and Larry Joe Crabb and to her niece Crystal (Windham) Wright. More than anything in life, she was a devoted Nana to her five grandchildren who meant the world to her.Laura was born on October 25, 1960 in Chickasha to Herb Miller and Vangie (Harrison) Miller. Laura graduated from Rush Springs High School and went on to raise her family there. Laura worked for the Grady County Sheriff's Department in Chickasha for twelve years where she worked her way up the ranks from dispatcher to deputy to detective. More recently, she was a jeweler at the Wal-Mart Jewlery Repair Center in Marlow.

Laura was preceded in death by her two sisters, Debra Windham and Carrie Pate, nieces, Misty and Charlotte Pate, nephews, Shane and Shawn Pate. She was also preceded by paternal grandparents, Elmer and Helen Miller and maternal grandparents, L.T. and Oleta Harrison.A private memorial for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 21. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Relay for Life.
