Obituary

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother Lillian Doreen Devoe, age 89. A resident of the MacGillivray Guest Home, she passed peacefully in her sleep at the home on Friday, August 5th, 2022.

Lillian was born in Alder Point, Nova Scotia on March 12, 1933, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Olive (Courtney) Arsenault. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Bras d'Or.

Lillian is survived by her son Wesley (Darlene) Devoe, daughters Shirley (Edward) Scott and Heather (Stan Bonise), daughter-in-law Vivian, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild. Lillian is also survived by her sister Margie Deveaux and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Gerald, son Garland, son-in-law Gordon MacDonald, sisters Mariam, Violet and Magdaline, as well as her brothers Gordon, William and John Joe.

Lillian lived in Alder Point where she worked at the Alder Point Fish Plant, then moved to Southside Boularderie. She loved music, her toes were always tapping. She played piano, jammed with Dad and friends, dancing, playing cards and Yahtzee. She loved her family and like to socialize.

Our heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at the McGillivray Home for there kindness and compassion. In keeping with Lillian's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Lillian's life will take place Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Church, Bras d'Or. Burial will take place after the service, and a reception will be held in the parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MacGillivray Guest Home, 25 Xavier Drive, Sydney, Nova Scotia.
