Joseph "Joe" Lee Bernard, 72, of London, died Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

Born August 9, 1950, in Jamestown, Ohio, he was a son of Stanley and Georgianna (Ross) Bernard.

Joe was a 1968 graduate of East Clinton High School. He then went on to join the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War, Oo-Rah!! He then went on to work at Church and Dwight as a maintenance man and proudly served as a UIW union steward, representing coworkers within the union. Joe was a member of the Madison County Vineyard which led him to a new love, helping children in the church's summer feeding program. He loved sports and was a former coach and commissioner for the Rennick League of LABC. Some of his favorite sports included football and baseball, and naturally he could always be found watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, or Cincinnati Bengals. Joe also loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Above all, Joe was a kindhearted man who loved his family dearly and always cherished the time they spent together.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Jeanna (Oren) Bernard; son Eric (Brittany) Bernard; grandchildren Tyson Bernard, Ava Reid, Carson Reid, and Bryson Reid; brother Kenneth (Tondi) Bernard, sister Ginny Bernard (Rex Burris); several nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brother Neil Bernard.

A Celebration of Joe's Life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM in the Madison County Vineyard, 106 Olive Street, London, Ohio 43140, with Pastor Denny Tatman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Private interment will be completed in Dayton National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorials in Joe's name can be made to the Madison County Vineyard to benefit their Summer Lunch Program.

The family is being served by the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 103 North Main Street, London, Ohio 43140, where condolences are encouraged to be shared online at www.eberlefisherfuneralhome.com.
