James Stanley "Jim" Kennedy, age 88, of Matthews, MO, died Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Cotton Point Living Center in Matthews, MO.

He was born March 6, 1935, in Prairie, Mississippi, to the late Ciscero Kennedy and Alice Pearl Allen Kennedy. In 1955, he moved to Rockford, IL, where he was employed with Atwood Company until his retirement in 1978. He and his wife then returned to Matthews. Jim then worked as a truck driver until his retirement. He attended the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston.

On January 18, 1958, he married Neva Inez Thom, who preceded him in death on March 27, 2013.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Reese and his brothers, James Ernest Kennedy and Sammie Lee Kennedy.

He is survived by nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as cousins and many friends.

Family and friends may assemble for graveside services at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2023, the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston. Keith Olbricht will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
