Obituary
Unidentified Newsclipping - 1872
SIMPSON.--Ernest F. Simpson, aged ten years, was drowned in this city, August 5, 1872, while at play with a toy boat. We miss a bright little boy from our Sunday-school. A Christian home is darkened by sorrow, but while our tears fall for those who "a little longer wait," we can but think that heaven contains one more bright "ministering spirit." There was something beautifully touching in his love for his parents, and for the Savior, to whom he never forgot daily to pray. The funeral services at the family residence were attended by a large number of sorrowing friends who wept as the children sang of the "Deep, dark valley" which Ernest was so suddenly called to pass through.
