Obituary
Marguerite (Margie) C. (Arsenault) Deveaux

Alder Point, N.S.

We, the family, are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful loving mother, on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the age of 92.

Born in Alder Point on April 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Olive (Courtney) Arsenault. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was married to our Dad, the late Tremaine Deveaux for 53 years, until his passing in 2001.

She was a member of St Anne's Church, Alder Point and a lifelong member of the Bras d'Or Seniors and Pensioners Club.

Mom enjoyed travel to various places like Nashville, British Columbia and Sainte-Ann's-de-Beaupre, QC. In her younger years, she taught sewing classes, and worked at the Bird Islands Tour Campground, which she enjoyed greatly. She also diligently sold Mass cards to the community for many years.

She was very involved with the Alder Point Community and St Ann's Choir. Some of Mom's interests included Bingo, Cards, Darts, The Casino, Step dancing and Flower Gardening, tulips being her favorite.

Her greatest pride and joy was family, especially on special occasions when the house was full of love and laughter.

Mom is survived by three sons and six daughters. Terry (Miriam), Owen (Isaline), Charlina MacLeod (Brad MacEachern), Jean Mullin (Jack), Agnes Gerrow, Ann Marie Stapleton (Bryan), Blair (Lucy), Elaine Cousins (Jack), and Michelle Hann (Allan).

She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, Stephen, Corey, Cynthia, Geneva, Ken, Shauna, George Robert, Curtis, Jeffery, John Ryan, Jana, Jason, Danielle, Bryan John, AJ, Theodore, Blake, Erica, as well as eighteen great-grandchildren, and her special friend Pete.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Tremaine, sisters Miriam Dugas, Violet Williams, Magdellan Dick and Lillian Devoe, brothers John Joe Arsenault, and William and Gordon Buffett and her son-in-Law, George MacLeod.

Mom is also survived by her family at the Northside Community Guest Home, where she was a resident for the last year. Our heartfelt thank you to the staff for the attention and love given to our Mom.

A special thank you to Dr. Paul Hickey for his attention and care over the years, the Northside Home Care and her special Angels, Micky Quirk and Frances Hall.

Visitation for Marguerite Deveaux will take place Monday Oct 10, 2022 from 7-9 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.

The funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at St Anne's Church, Alder Point, on Tuesday October 11, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bras d'Or. Reception to follow at The Alder Point Community Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Word of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
