COGAN STATION - Marie M. (Coudriet) Shief, 81, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at her residence. She was the loving wife of Maxwell R. "Max" Shief whom she married on May 27, 1948 and celebrated 59 years together. Marie was born on June 22, 1926 in Williamsport and was a daughter of the late Edward A. and Margaret (Grotzinger) Coudriet. She had graduated from the St. Joseph High School in 1944. She worked at Hermance Machine Company as a secretary for 21 years and then retired from the Williamsport Area School District in 1989 after 16 years of employment. She was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Williamsport. She was a Charter Member of the Bald Eagle Art League, and a Life Member of the Lycoming County Chapter Pennsylvania Association School Retirees. She was also a member of the Montoursville Senior Citizens, and the American Association of Retired Persons. Marie enjoyed traveling, painting, quilting and knitting. In addition to her husband, Max, she is survived by two sons; Richard L. Shief of New York City and Michael L. Shief of Cogan Station, one daughter; Donna K. Mayes and her husband David of Mill Hall, three grandchildren; Courtney and Connor Mayes of Mill Hall and Chais Shief of Cogan Station and two brothers; Leon F. Coudriet of Williamsport and Norbert L. Coudriet of Montvale, NJ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Joseph J. and Edward A. Coudriet. The Shief family would like to thank Dawn Depasqua, Donita Craven and the entire Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice team, as well as Sharon Emig for all their time, love and care given to Marie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Annunciation Catholic Church, 701 West Fourth Street, Williamsport with Father John K. Manno as celebrant. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Marie may be sent to the Annunciation Catholic Church, 410 Walnut Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
