William "Bill" Duden
June 15, 1943 - July 11, 2023

William Duden, age 80, of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, passed away early morning, on Monday, July 11, 2023 at Valley Senior Living, in Grand Forks.

William Robert Duden, was born on June 15, 1943, at Bethesda Hospital, in Crookston, to William & Marie (Strickler) Duden. His childhood was spent on a farm, near Crookston. As a young adult, he was a resident of the Bethesda Lutheran Home, in Watertown, Wisconsin. In 1977, Bill moved back to Crookston, before moving to East Grand Forks.

Over the years, Bill spent time at his Uncle William Strickler's farm. He helped with chores and tended the calves and chickens, with Aunt Jean. Bill also enjoyed the special time he spent with his Godparents, Uncle Bill & Aunt Louise Yuergens, touring the countryside, checking crops, and lending Uncle Bill a hand, caretaking the gardens at Mount St. Benedict, in Crookston. Bill was a hard worker who took pride in his work. He was well into his 70's before finally retiring.

Bill was passionate about the Friday Night Races at the dirt track – he always looked forward to them. Watching wrestling was another one of Bill's favorite things. He also loved attending DAC, in East Grand Forks, and being involved with many programs.

Bill was a happy person whose energy was contagious. Everyone loved being around his personality and spirit. He was close with the LSS staff and his roommates were very important to him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William & Marie; brother, Maurice; aunts & uncles: William & Jean Strickler, and Bill & Louise Yuergens.

He is survived by his cousins: Don & Ellen Strickler of Euclid, MN., Marilyn (Strickler) and Stan Sirek of Wahpeton, ND., Kenneth and Joanne Duden of Mankato, MN., Joy (Yuergens) and Bruce Bang of Hawley, MN., and Evelyn (Duden) and Bernard Huot of St. Hiliare, MN.; and several other relatives. Also left to mourn his passing, are his dear friends and staff of his group home, LSS, and DAC.
