Katherine Laurent, 73, Coon Rapids, Minn., formerly of International Falls, Minn., and Climax, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, in Park River Estates Nursing Home, Coon Rapids, where she had lived since 1993.

Katherine Lenora Olson was born June 22, 1924, the daughter of Archie and Emelia (Efteland) Olson, in Shelly, Minn. She grew up and attended school in Shelly and Climax, graduating in 1942. She moved to Crookston, where she worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as an operator. In the mid-1940s she transferred to Seattle. She married James Harris Laurent in October of 1948, in Seattle, where they lived until moving to International Falls in 1950. She worked for Piggly Wiggly in International Falls for a short time. In 1980, she moved to Falls Care Center.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Kay (Dan) Alleman, Ramsey, Minn.; sons, Harris (Connie), Forest Lake, Minn., and Douglas (Kathy), Hermantown, Minn.; six grandchildren; and a brother, Phillip, Crookston.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Erin; and a brother, Ernest.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, in Shelly Lutheran Church, Shelly.

Visitation: One hour before services in the church.

Burial: Shelly Cemetery (Stenshoel-Houske, Crookston).
