Phyllis Irene Adkins, 85, of Paxton passed away at 4:51 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Paxton Church of Christ, 400 W Ottawa, with Pastor Marcus McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the Paxton Church of Christ.

Phyllis was born July 23, 1937 in Paxton the daughter of Lyle Glen and Pauline Lucille Hill Moss. She married Ardith Elmo Adkins February 7, 1953 in Charleston, Illinois. He preceded her in death June 23, 2002.

She is survived by four sons and four daughters, Lyle (Janet) Adkins, Lavona (Kenny) Watson, Lisa (Fred) Magers all of Paxton, Les (Betty) Adkins of Loda, Laura (Tim) Peeler, Lena Adkins both of Sibley, Lee Adkins of San Antonio, TX, Lonnie (Linda) Adkins of Minier; 14 grandchildren, Venece Parrish, Amanda (David) Hewerdine, Kristin (Ezekiel) Valdez, Cathy (Mike) Roy, Bryan (Tiffany) Rollins, Shaun Adkins, Jaime Adkins, Jeremy (Kris) Adkins, Jeffrey (Anna) Adkins, Jayna (Ray) Cline, Brandon (Emily) Magers, Ben (Samantha) Magers, Ashley (Joe) Spiller, and Andy (Josie) Peeler; 30 great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Glenn Atkins of Paxton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ardith; daughter-in-law, Nancy Jo Adkins; one brother, Gerald Moss; two sisters, Josephine Atkins, Diane Haskins; and grandson, Joshua Watson.

Phyllis worked at Electronics, Inc., Paxton and was a troop leader for the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Paxton Church of Christ.

Once Phyllis raised her children, she enjoyed riding with her husband in his truck and was able to see all of the 48 contiguous states. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved traveling, especially to Branson, Missouri. Nothing meant more to her than spending time with her family and attending all of her grandchildren's events.
