It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Bernie Buffett. Bernie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at home, with his loving wife Deanna and daughter Edna by his side. Bernie will always be remembered as a noble, warm hearted one-of-a-kind gentle man. Bernie was born and raised in Alder Point, the son of the late Bill and Mary Buffett.
He was employed at the Princess Colliery and retired from the Prince Mine in Point Aconi. He was a very hard worker and providing for his family was his main goal. Bernie was a great guitarist who played in numerous bands and church choirs over the years, making cherished friendships along the way.
Bernie leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Deanna, children Bernadette, Edna, Johnny (Tara) and Debbie (Jason), grandchildren Ricky, Nicole (Blaise), Kayla (Chris), Jamie (Sheldon), and Deanna (Kevin), great-grandchildren, Gavin, Landon, Declan, Hylie, Aryah, Malakai, Charley, Brady, Sawyer and Lincoln Bernard.
Bernie is also survived by brothers Barrie, Cecil (Edie), Earl, Cameron (Doreen), and Wayne, and sisters Yvonne, Joan (Sander), Mary, Olive (Bob), Sharon, Joanne (Greg).
Bernie will also be missed by his in laws Debbie, Sherry (Emmett), Monte (Debbie), Roy (Bonnie) and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his granddaughter Laura Jessome and son in law Charlie Jessome. Also remembering any grand or great grandchildren lost in infancy, his mother and father-in-law Edna and John Serafinus, brothers Junior, James C, and Edward, sister, Josephine. Brother in laws Hartland, Ernie, John, sisters in law Francie, Shirley, Sonja, Lorraine, Francis, Allison and Wanda.
Visitation for Bernie Buffett will be held Friday October 14th, 2022, at Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday October 15th, 2022, at 11am at St. Joseph Church in North Sydney, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bras d'Or.
