Delia Allen Donaldson was the daughter of Phineas Allen and Sibbell Bicknell and the wife of Asa Donaldson. Delia's father served in the American Revolution and was at Valley Forge. He served in the 1st Connecticut Regiment under Capt. John Shumway and Col. Josiah Starr.
According to 'History of Tioga County, Pennsylvania,' pub. 1883, "Concerning Mrs. Donaldson (Delia Allen Donaldson) it is the unanimous verdict that she was one of the noblest of women, and that she had a peculiarly happy faculty of governing her (eleven) children, such as is possessed by few women...Her husband depended much upon her opinion of what he had prepared for the pulpit."

In John L. Sexton's book 'Letters of Uncle Jonas Lawrence.' 1886, it was said, "(Rev. Asa Donaldson) was aided by his accomplished and amiable wife."
