Active pallbearers were: Gus Sproul, Geo. Duderstadt, Robert Real, M. D. Henderson, F. H. Cobb, and J. A. Peril, all of whom had been neighbors of the deceased for many years.
Mr. Hyde was born in Louisiana on June 8, 1851. He came to Texas in his youth and had been a resident of Kerr County since March 1, 1879. Upon his arrival in this section, before the advent of the railroad, he engaged in business as a freighter and from a very meagre beginning amassed considerable ranch land in the northwestern part of Kerr County. At the time of his death, he was one of the most substantial citizens of the Mountain Home community. The aged man was stricken with pneumonia only three or four days before his death.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sallie Hyde; two daughters, Mrs. Tom Secrest of Uvalde and Mrs. O. Jones of Spofford; and four sons, Mack, Arthur, Hiram and Walter Hyde, all of Mountain Home. Twenty-one grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one brother, M. C. Hyde of Oklahoma, also survive.
