Mrs. Dorothy Hyde Ahrens Hardy, 78, of Kerrville, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

She was born September 8, 1921, and grew up on the Y.O. Ranch, where her father was foreman. Her parents wre [sic were] T. M. "Mack" and Carrie Hyde of the Divide.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ervin Ahrens and Eck Hardy; a son, Bobby Ray Hardy; a brother, Clarence Hyde; and a sister, Alice Lee.

Survivors include three children, Jean Ahrens Fahrenthold and her husband, Bob, of Allen, Texas, Charles Ahrens and his wife, Dianna, of Kerrville and Beverly Ahrens of Kerrville; one former son-in-law, Henry Massey of Ingram; one stepson, Billy Hardy and his wife, Irene, of Ingram; a sister, Nona Heffernan Bulkley of Kerrville; six grandchildren: Cindy Bazan and Melinda Aaron, both of Princeton, Texas; Barry Fahrenthold of Sayre, Okla., and Cody, Chase and Chad Ahrens, all of Kerrville; two step-grandchildren: Billy Dean and Linda Hardy of Ingram; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and special friends.

Graveside services for Mrs. Hardy will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2000, at Sunset Cemetery at Mountain Home, Texas.

The family will receive friends at Grimes Funeral Chapels from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2000.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
