Homegoing services for Dorothy Louise Calhoun Terrell, 70, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 5340 Jewella Avenue.

At Lakeside Baptist Church, Sister Terrell was a charter member, Minister of Music with 43 years of service; Class 4 Sunday School teacher, and member of Mission 2.

At age 4 she began playing the piano and she served as a musician at Trinity, Mt. Canaan, First Baptist, and Mt. Olive Baptist Churches.

Mrs. Terrell was very active in the religious community serving as a musician for the 13th District Association, the Louisiana Baptist State Association, Terrell's All-Stars, and many other organizations.

She was also president of the 13th District Wives and Widows Ministry Association, a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies of the Golden Circle, and California-Louisiana Crusade.

Mrs. Terrell was a much sought-out speaker in recent years, speaking at churches in Germany; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; and numerous churches in Shreveport, LA.

She served as vice-president of Lakeside Gardens Apartment, Inc. and there she was a tutor and mentor for the children in the Lakeside Gardens Tutorial Program.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Amos Terrell; mother, Veva Williams; two daughters, Bertha Calhoun Williams, and Shae Hardy Morris; sons-in-law, James Williams and Minister David Morris all of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Evelyn Perkins and her husband, Rev. James Perkins of Los Angeles, CA; Margie Evans and her husband, Rev. Jim Evans of Los Angeles, CA; and Bessie Latson and her husband, Charles Latson of Houston, TX; brothers, Robert Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; Johnnie Johnson and James Lewis and his wife, Wanda Lewis all of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, James Williams, Charkia Battle, and Eldridge Morris; godchildren, stepchildren, sisters, and brothers-in-law; aunts, cousins, nieces; nephews, the congregation of the Lakeside Baptist Church, other relatives and friends.



Pastor Terrell, Bertha, and Shae wish to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Doctor's Hospital and LifeCare for the compassionate care provided to their loved ones.

Presiding will be Pastor Harry Blake of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.
Pastor Murphy Hunt will bring the funeral oration.
Interment in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
The body will lie in state beginning at 6 p.m. with a Praise Worthy Musical
from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2002, at Lakeside Baptist Church, 722 Elvis Presley Blvd.
