STOCKTON, CA – Robert Noall (Bob) Blewett, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2005.
He was born in Stockton on July 12, 1915 and graduated from El Dorado Grammar School and Stockton High School as Valedictorian of his class in 1932. He received his Bachelor's Degree in 1936 from Stanford University. In 1939, Bob graduated from Stanford Law School in the Order of the Coif. He was admitted to the Bar Association that same year and entered into law practice with his father, Steven N. Blewett. In 1940, Bob married Stockton native Virginia Weston, daughter of Paul E. Weston and great-granddaughter of William S. Moss. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family. Bob was involved in organizations including the Stockton Scottish Rite Royal Arch Masons, Ben Ali Shrine, Yosemite Club, Leadership Council of the UC Davis Medical Center and ACTEC. An active member of Stockton Rotary for over 50 years, Bob was instrumental in creating the Stockton Rotary Endowment. He served as Trustee of the Stanley Estate Scholarship fund, the Carl and Grace Baker Scholarship Fund, the Stockton Blue Lodges Stanley Estate Trust, and the Haggin Museum. After 59 years of practicing law, Bob retired in 1998, leaving his firm Blewett & Allen, Inc. in the care of Shari Allen-Garibaldi.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Blewett; daughter, Carolyn Lawrence and husband, Dr. Joseph Lawrence of Stockton; granddaughter, Christine Pang and husband, Andrew Pang of San Rafael; granddaughter, Catherine Barron and husband, Joseph Barron and 19 month old Paulino Robert Barron, Bob's great-grandson. Bob's son, Dr. Richard Weston Blewett passed away in 1992.
A viewing will be held Monday, December 26, 2005, at De Young Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The funeral service is on Tuesday, December 27, 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Stockton with Fr. Daniel Martins officiating. Arrangements are by DeYoung Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Stockton Rotary Endowment Rotary Club of Stockton, c/o Susan Drake, Secretary, PO Box 7457, Stockton, CA 95207 and St. John's Episcopal Church, 316 N.
