Steve Allen Friend, 58, of Friendsville, MD, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at his residence.
Born February 12, 1965, in Oakland, MD, he was the son of the late William Okey and Helen Louise (Fazenbaker) Friend. He was also preceded in death by William Lewis "Dumpy" Friend.
Steve was a concrete finisher for Lapp Services. He was an avid ginseng harvester, mushroom hunter, enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was a real "Mountain Man."
He is survived by his companion, LuAnn Savage; three sons, Steven Allen Friend, Justin Allen Friend and Lewis Okey Friend, all of Friendsville; two daughters, Melody Ann (Robert) Friend, Hazelton, WV; Helen Louise (Patrick) Friend, Friendsville; three brothers, Charles Reuben (Monika) Friend and Carl Nathan (Kayla) Friend, all of Friendsville; John Eric Friend, Confluence, PA; and three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 12-3 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Yoder officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery,.
