Joe was born on June 27, 1950, in Wichita, KS to Glenn and Velma (Wallace) Baughman. He passed away on July 3, 2023, in Wichita, KS at age 73. Joe had many interests which included helping others with computers, Atlanta Braves baseball, genealogy, history (especially the Civil War), photography, videography, traveling, scuba diving and metal detecting. He was a proud Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. Nothing made him prouder than becoming a dad to his two sons, Douglas Allen and Glenn Russell, who were born in 1977 and 1982. He would and did move mountains for them during their youth and also into their adulthood. He found his niche when he was hired at Sedgwick County in the Data Processing Department in 1982. He absolutely loved it! He retired from the County in 2007. He met his second wife, Linda, at the County and they were married in 1998. They took numerous trips and cruises during their almost 25 years of marriage and their adventures included spending time in the mountains of Colorado and also on the white sandy beaches of Grand Cayman. Joe was proceeded in death by his parents, sister, Glenda Sue Baughman, son, Douglas Allen Baughman, grandparents, Edward and Elizabeth Wallace and Harry and Gertrude Baughman. He is survived by his wife, Linda Gail (Hall) Baughman, son, Glenn Russell Baughman, stepson, Jeffrey (Misty) Clark, stepson, Justin (Shawn) Clark, brother, David (Sheila) Baughman, sister, Jan (Charlie Waldron) Baughman, granddaughter, Kaitlyn Monell, grandson, Matthew Monell, great-granddaughter, Salem Heather Monell, brother-in-law, Billy (Jean) Hall, sister-in-law, Nancy (Ron) Janopoulo, nephews, Clayton (Alicia) Baughman, Nathan (Kathleen) Williams, Jeff Hall, Mark (Paula) Hall, Jim Hall, nieces, Kristy (Jay) Baughman, Darci (Stephen) Freeman, Kimberly (Michael) Roberts, Diana (Mike) Toomey, Chrissy Janopoulo, numerous great nephews, great nieces and cousins. His visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and his funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. Both of the above will be held at Hillside Funeral Home West at 2929 W. 13th Street, Wichita, KS, 67203. Burial will follow at the Old Pioneer Cemetery in Cheney, KS.
