Moved from Georgia in 1875 and build a sawmill in the community of Wekiwa. Because of the mill the name of the community was changed to Lockhart. Employment at the mill brought in new settlers and developed the Edgewater Drive area.
He served 3 times on the Board of Alderman.
He was interested in horses and entered several of his in races at the ornage County Fair and was a stockholder in the orlando trotting association.
