Son of John Thomas "Jack" Burch and Ella Ray Harvey.

Joined the Army Air Corps at age 17 with written permission from his father John Thomas Burch, Transferred to the Air Force when created in 1947.

Originally a B-17 Tailgunner in World War II

Served in both Korea, and Vietnam wars

Was an Aerial Refueler, also known as a 'Boom Operator"

Retired as a Master Sgt. with 26 years service, (he was going for 30 years of service) after suffering from Heart Attack.
