Cumberland Field Hospital in Nashville, TN •
I did do use one of my reference books to find out information on the Cumberland Hospital. It was located on Broad Street(which is now Broadway). As far as I can tell, Cumberland was a field hospital. My information on the Cumberland site came from James A. Hoobler's book 'Cities Under the Gun: Images of Occupied Nashville and Chattanooga'. This book has a small photograph of the Cumberland Field Hospital. The photo is on page 22 with information under it. You can likely find the book somewhere. From what the book says, the hospital held 2,304 beds. The site took up 30 acres of land.
Cumberland Hospital was on Hardin(g) Pike. Piecing together several maps of varying scales and detail it appears that Broad St. became Hardin Pike as it went out into the countryside.
William A Lightbourne was an assistant surgeon in the 25th Tennessee Infantry, of the Confederate Army, resigning in October, 1861. Nashville was a Confederate-held city until Federal troops took control of it in February 1862. At some later stage, in 1864, he was then employed as a.a.s. at the Cumberland Hospital, then in the Union held city of Nashville.

Following the Civil War, John Camp Rasbury and most of his family went to Texas, leaving only his son, Mansel, in Atlanta.
