Known by all who loved him as Arthur, he was born on December 22, 1932 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late William Eugene Summers and Marian Claudine Summers. Arthur was a retired Crane Operator for the Seaboard Foundation. He had a great love of nature and wildlife and obtained his "Golden Age Passport", which allowed him and his family lifetime admission to the U. S. National Parks. Arthur was of the Catholic faith and attended Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his siblings Jean Marie Gibbons, Elizabeth Lee (Bettie Lee) Roberts, Mary June Zamrok, Ellen Adaire Ross, and Thomas Allen Summers.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Julia Summers; children Charles William Summers, James Arthur Summers Jr., Scott Allen Summers, Melanie Summers Clappisi, and Melinda Jean Summers Shirley; brother John David Summers; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A gathering will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 10:30AM until time for Mass at 11AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Newburg, Maryland 20664.
Interment will follow Mass in the church cemetery.
