Dr. Robert Leon Hay, 75, of Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at his home.

Dr. Hay was born Aug. 14, 1947 in Fulton County, Ga., to L.C. and Evelyn Thomas Hay. He was a member of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Dr. Hay graduated from Headland High School in Atlanta, Ga.; University of Georgia, where he played football; and graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropratic. Dr. Hay was president of the N.C. Chiropractic Association. He was an Army veteran.
Dr. Hay was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Duffy Hay, of the home; two daughters, Lori Hay Slagle (Donnie) of Gray, Tenn., and Julie Hay Nichols (Marty) of Wilkesboro; and six grandchildren, Sydney Nichols, Katie Nichols, Bo Nichols, Cassie Slagle, Luke Slagle and Colt Slagle.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis Tenn., 38105.
