Catherine Burdick was born the 31 March, 1777 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island, the 8th of 10 children in the family of James and Catherine (Vars) Burdick. Catherine Burdick married John Adams of Barrington, Rhode Island on 10 May, 1795 in Newport, Rhode Island. John Adams died off the coast of Africa on 23 July, 1803.

After John Adams death Catherine married William H. Dart between 1803-1811 and had a son William Henry Dart born 3 Oct 1811 in Newport County, Rhode Island. Catherine and William settled in the Providence Rhode Island area sometime after Williams birth residing there until deceasing. It is reported that Catherine was originally buried in the North Burial Ground, Providence Rhode Island and was later moved to the Swan Point Cemetery, Providence Rhode Island. She is buried next to her son William. The last reported date that her grave marker was seen is 1860.
