Alice Beville's 1st husband was her cousin, Emory P. Zeigler whom she married in Lowndes County, GA on 29 Oct 1893.

Emory was the son of Alice's aunt, Mary R Beville & Mary's husband, Lawson Barnwell Zeigler. He was born in July of 1871.

By 1900, Alice & Emory were separated, or divorced, as she and their son, Lawson Nathaniel Zeigler are enumerated Lowndes Co, GA in the home of her parents. Alice is listed as "widowed" which was not uncommon for separated, or divorced, women to list themselves as widowed in that era.

Emory is listed as "single" in the home of his brother, Lawson Barnwell Zeigler, Jr. & wife, Nandean Linberger 1900 Bradford Co, FL.

Alice next married (abt 1903) Karl "Herman" Bentel with whom she had several children including a set of twins.

Emory P. must have died soon thereafter (1900 census) because I lose track of him. Alice Beville was NEVER married to Lawson Barnwell Zeigler.
