Gary passed away on August 13, 2016. He was in a VA hospital in Mobile, AL. He is survived by two children, Jennifer and Michael and ex-wife Sheryn Daw.
CW4 Gary L. Asdel, USA Ret, made his final flight on Saturday, August 13th following an extended illness. He was 70 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Hazel Asdel, as well as his beloved canine companion, Rowdy. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Jane Asdel; his sister, Carol Hollander; his children Donald Asdel, Jennifer Friz (Edward), Michael Asdel and a stepdaughter, Nancy Coker (Tim). He also leaves three grandchildren Meggan, Andrew, and Mary as well as nieces and a nephew. Gary was a Vietnam veteran who retired from the US Army after 20 years of service. He was also an Enterprise and later New Brockton police officer for a total of 13 years before he became ill. Gary served as a Sidekick Gun Pilot with the 92nd Assault Helicopter Company Mar/69 - Mar/70.
