Jim Brown Killed

Jim Brown, formerly of Prentiss County, but for some time has resided near Maud, Alabama, was shot and killed Monday, August 17th, by his son-in-law, Willie Holland. The full particulars of the tragedy could not be ascertained, but the following report was the best obtainable. Willie Holland and a young daughter, aged 13 years, of Mr. Brown were married Sunday night. Monday morning they met in the road near the Brown home. Each had a single barrel shotgun and both shot once, but it is not known which fired first. Mr. Brown was shot in the breast and died in a few minutes. One of Holland's hands was shot off.
