George Eldon Nigh was the fourth child of six born to George William Nigh and Ruth Ann Cummings; his siblings being: Ruth Elveta (Nigh) Meddaugh, Florence Certilla (Nigh) Butts, Vivian Elmere (Nigh) Bartotto, Marie Nigh, and Martin Worth Nigh.

He was united in marriage to Charlotte Katharine Ennenga on December 9, 1945, Folsom, Sacramento County, California. To this union, seven known children were born: Harlan Nigh, Irvin G. Nigh, Orin Nigh, Hugh Nigh, Harvey Nigh, Elwin Nigh, and Charlene Sharon Nigh. This union ended in divorce before 1971.

He was again united in marriage, this time to Ardis A. (Rowsam) Dampier about August 1971. To this union one known child was born: George A. Nigh. She precedes him in death.

He then united in marriage with Deborah Ann Wells June 26, 1982, Portage County, Wisconsin. To this union one known child was born: Elveta Nigh. This marriage ended in divorce.

He then united in marriage to Connie (Halvorson) Krakow about March 1989. This marriage also ended in divorce.

He resided in the town of Pine Grove his entire life where he was a farmer.

He answered the summons made by his country, and served the U.S. Army in W.W. II.

He answered the summons to the spirit world at the age of 82y, 6m, and 3d from the home of his youngest son, Brian. Internment was made on Thursday, October 7, 2004, following services held at the New Life Assembly of God, Plainfield.

George E. Nigh

George E. Nigh, 82, of 3045 3rd Ave., Bancroft, passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at the home of his youngest son, Brian.

Dad was born on March 31, 1922, in the town of Pine Grove, the son of George W. and Ruth (Cummings) Nigh. He lived and farmed his entire life in the town of Pine Grove.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Dad was married to Charlotte Ennenga in December 1945. They later divorced. He then married Ardis (Rowsam) Dampier in August 1971. She preceded him in death in January of 1982. Dad was then married to Deborah Wells in June 1982. They later divorced. He then married Connie Krakow in March 1989. They were divorced.

He is survived by eight sons and three daughters, Harlan (Karen), Irvin (Phyllis), Orin (Charlotte), Hugh (Barbara), Harvey (Joan), Elwyn (Karen), George A. (Tonya) and Brian, Charlene (Raymond) Applebee, Elveta (Mike) Dunbar, and Denise (Art) Meyer. Dad is further survived by 45 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the New Life Assembly of God, Plainfield. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, town of Pine Grove, Portage County. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the church.

Dad's family would like to express a deep and heartfelt thanks to Roxanne Mills for giving Dad such loving, tender care when he came home from the hospital until he passed away. She truly was Dad's angel, as he often said of her.

A special thanks to Susan and Kay, Dad's hospice nurses, for their tender care of Dad and the family.
