Sister Mary Conrad, 85, of Bernardine Sisters of the Order of St. Francis of Reading, Pa., died Wednesday (Aug. 26) at St. Joseph's Villa, Reading, Pa. Born in Shenandoah, Pa., she was the daughter of Martin and Mary (Mika) Ciszek. She entered the convent Jan. 25, 1911, in Reading, Pa., and served as a group mother, teacher and librarian in various locations in Pennsylvania. She leaves two brothers, the Rev. Walter Ciszek S.J. of the Bronx, N.Y., and Jake Ciszek of Jersey City, N.J.; and four sisters, Mrs. Sophie Bushek of Shenandoah, Pa., Sister Mary Evangeline of St. Joseph's Villa of Reading, Pa., Mrs. Helen Gearhardt of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Loretta Balczuk of Hartford. Burial was Saturday, Aug. 29, in the Convent Cemetery.
