Our beloved son, Brent Scott Stapleton, 29, of Charlotte passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill after an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday August 14, 2013 at Highland Presbyterian Church followed by interment in the columbarium with Dr. Ernie Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
Brent attended high school at Fayetteville Academy followed by college at North Carolina State University. He was a published author for poetry while in high school through the Wake Forest Young Authors Program and was a National Art Scholar for his art work.
Brent is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ruth Carter Stapleton and Alice Lee Gainey. He is survived by his parents, Dr. S. Scott Stapleton and Mrs. Caro Lee Stapleton of Fayetteville; sister and brother in law, Jennifer Ruth and Blake Grayson Joeckel of Raleigh; aunts and uncles, Patti and Bob Bock of Smithfield, Lynn and Ranny Nimocks of Fayetteville, Michael and Mary Stapleton of Huntersville, and Teresa and Frank Holcombe of Morehead City; Grandparents, Dr. Robert T. Stapleton and Dr. and Mrs. Robert H. Gainey all of Fayetteville; numerous cousins; and nanny since infancy Fannie M. Jacobs.
