She would join her husband arriving in San Francisco, California with their first born on June 12, 1952. By 1966 they would live in Las Vegas in their first home with their 5 children. On May 11, 1966 her husband would die from cancer in San Diego, California. She would stay in Las Vegas with her 5 children and never remarry. Later in 1966 she would get a job at the Mint Hotel and Casino as a change girl and eventually became a booth cashier. She would retire after 22 years in 1988 at the age of 62.
Over the course of the next 34 years she would remain in Las Vegas. One of the joys of her life was the love of animals. Dating all the way back to 1966 there would be a dog in the house. She loved to rescue dogs and provide them with a loving home. Her last dog Sophie lived on a diet which included fresh store bought roasted chicken every day. For many years she would visit a nearby park to feed the pigeons. The birds knew her and would flock in droves when they saw her arrive in her car. She also visited her homeland Japan over the course of her lifetime. Her last visit to Japan would be in 2010 to visit her sister Hisako shortly after her first born son's death.
Misao is preceded in death by both parents, her siblings Tekado, Miako and Hisako. Two sons Bruce William Sawyer and Errol Vernon Sawyer III. She is survived by her daughter, and son's. She is also survived by grandchildren, a nephew, a great niece, also many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews.
