Gene Gibbs, 90 of Promise City passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at his home.
Gene was born to Ivan & Beulah (Hiatt) Gibbs on April 19, 1933 in Centerville, Iowa. He received his education from Seymour High School, graduating in 1951. On September 5, 1954, Gene was united in marriage to Romona Darrah. To this union came four children: Michael, Cona, Eddie and Wesley.
Gene worked as a cattleman, machinist and he also owned Gibbs Ford Tractor in Corydon, Iowa. He enjoyed time spent with his family, wood carving and tinkering on any project he could get his hands on.
Survivors include his children: Michael LeRoy Gibbs (Wanita), Cona Carter (Jim), Eddie Gibbs (Tina), Wesley Gibbs (Becky), 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife Romona on December 9, 2020 and his parents.
Graveside service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour followed by a time of celebration and sharing of memories at 11:00 am at Seymour United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to Wayne County Soil Conservation District and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome
