Norman Jacob Brown passed on August 13, 2022 at his Anchorage home with family surrounding and loving him. Norm was born in Yakima, WA and raised in Bickleton and Yakima. His parents were Anna Louise Jensen and Niels Jorgensen Brown.

Norm lived a life of service to his community, enjoyed his family, his Danish heritage and the pioneer spirit of his family. Both of his parent's families immigrated from Denmark and homesteaded in Bickleton.

Norm is survived by his wife Carlene of Sherwood, OR, they were married 3/18/1966; and his children Jim Brown of West Plains, MO, Margaret Stout of Cheney WA, and Niels Brown of Sunnyside WA; and his brother Ellwood Brown in Bickleton WA. He also has 10 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Walter Brown, sister Leona (Brown) Runyan, and stepson Kevin LaFountain.

Norman was active in his community. He was a long term member of Central Lutheran Church, the Lions Club, the Grange, the Anchorage Senior Center, and he supported the Anchorage food bank. He volunteered his time for all of his causes. He was a passionate bowler and still rolled the occasional 200 game into his 90's. The bowling photo was from 2021, shortly after he had ear surgery which induced vertigo, but that didn't stop him!

After farming, raising wheat and cattle in Bickleton, his career was in the Propane industry. That took him to California, Missouri, Utah, and lastly Alaska where he found his forever home.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Anchorage, Central Lutheran Church, and especially his neighbors for their help and support as Dad's health failed. As his family we truly appreciate the support and help we received.

A graveside service will be held on June 24 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bickleton. (We will try to video the service to shared with Alaska friends, details to be share later when we know we succeeded.) Donations are welcome to the Alder Creek Pioneer Association, the Bickleton Museum, or a food bank of your choice.
