John Marion Moody was born on September 2, 1947, in Chester, South Carolina, and passed away on June 16, 2023. He was a devoted husband and father, loving grandfather, and a cherished friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 6:00 p.m.

John was born to his late parents, Robert and Ruth Ann Moody. His life journey began in Chester where he learned the value of hard work, perseverance, dedication, and determination. These principles shaped his character and guided him throughout his life. On June 28, 1969, John married the love of his life, Elaine Robinson Moody. Their unwavering love endured for 53 years.

John was a successful business owner and operated Moody's Tree Service for 30 years. John faithfully served the customers of Fairfield Electric Cooperative for over 40 years both as an employee of Fairfield Electric Cooperative and as an independent business owner.

John's true joy resided in his love for his wife, daughter, Michelle Moody Dickerson, son-in-law, Michael Lewis Dickerson, and his granddaughters, Mary Kendall Dickerson and Madden Lane Dickerson. He treasured every moment spent with them and the precious memories they created together. He is also survived by his sister, Marva Moody Garner (Ted) of Lockhart, SC: sister-in-law , Kay Robinson Widener (Tim) of Chester, SC and brother-in-law, Robert Leonard Robinson (Jeanette) 0f Chester, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Coley Moody.

In addition to spending time with his family, John enjoyed riding motorcycles in the mountains with his friends, fishing with his friends, and sitting around telling stories at RJ's. He loved the outdoors, feeding his birds, squirrels, raccoons and his beloved cat, Bo.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of his love for animals, the family requests that donations be made to PETSinc, 300 Orchard Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170.
