Former Anchorage resident Jo Marie Myers Bybee, 63, died Aug. 7 at home. Services were held Aug. 8 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Hilton Chancellor, chaplain of Hospice of the Southwest, officiating. Private entombment followed at Trinity Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bybee was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Martin County, Texas. She grew up at Knott, Texas, and graduated from Knott High School. Mrs. Bybee attended Odessa and Midland colleges, then finished her education at the University of Alaska. Mrs. Bybee had lived in Anchorage from 1976 to March 1994, when she returned to Big Spring, Texas. She had worked as a psychologist for the state of Alaska. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Anchorage.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Elaine and Ben Reecer of Puyallup, Wash., and Janeice and Joe Barnes of Knott; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nancy Ashley of Anchorage; mother, Lola Myers of Big Spring; eight grandchildren, Daniel Wayne Reecer of California, Jennifer Marie Reecer of Boise, Idaho, Paul Reecer of Puyallup, Jeremy, Naomi and Nanci Ashley, all of Prairie Grove, Ark., and Bill and Rebecca Jo Barnes of Knott; one nephew and three nieces. Mrs. Bybee was preceded in death by her father, Joe Myers, in 1982, and brother, Jack "Sonny" Myers, in 1972. The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Hospice of the Southwest, Box 14710, Odessa, Texas 79768-4710.
