Barbara E. (Bickel) Short, 69, of Anderson, went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2023.

She was born on December 16, 1953 in Portland, IN the daughter of Ralph Bickel and Ardis LeMaster Bickel. She was a graduate of Anderson High School and attended Anderson University. She was employed by the City of Anderson as an executive secretary for the City Planning Commission. She later worked for Municipal Light and Power.

Barbara attended Vermillion Christian Church for many years and was active with the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the UAW 1963 and received the Rolland Webber Award in 2001.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Alvin "Lonnie" Short; two daughters, Autumn (Trevor Rich) Short and Lonnita (Nathaniel) Neblett; four step children, Lori Wright, Lonnie (Camille) Short II, Tara Short, Nickelette Spencer; 7 grandchildren, Riven Clark, Bentley White, Zachary Garrett, Alaina, Samuel, Joseph and Matthew Neblett; 12 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren; two brothers, Mark Bickel and Richard Bickel; several nieces and nephews including, Andy Bagienski, Joshua Bickel and Keith Bickel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carolyn Sue Bickel.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 2pm at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service.
Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will also be held on Thursday from noon until 2pm.
