Dan Francis Kennedy, 86, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Dan was born on May 1, 1937 in Davenport, Iowa to Walter Francis and Eunice (Tefft) Kennedy.

He married Carol Ann Robinson on February 6, 1960 at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.

Dan is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Gregory (Jody) Kennedy of Des Moines, IA., and Brian (Deb) Kennedy of Peoria; daughter, Colleen (Troy) Hamilton of Peoria; and surviving siblings, Lois (John deceased) Robyt, Janice (John) Craig, and Connie (Glen) Tilman.

Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Helen Blanchard, Sally Miller, and Jay Kennedy.

After schooling in Chicago, Dan was drafted and served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1960-1962. He then began a thirty year teaching career, the last twenty two spent at Chapman Middle School in Farmington.

On September 18, 2018, he was privileged to go on the Honor Flight accompanied by his daughter Colleen.

Dan's volunteer time involved adult literacy and after school tutoring programs at Common Place. He was also an escort and helper in ambulatory surgery at Methodist Medical Center.

Dan's interests involved fine arts, music, art history, as well as Irish history, culture and literature. He also loved to work in his yard.

Dan was an active member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and was a Secular Franciscan.

Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
