Mary Guzman Crews was born August 10, 1934. She entered hospice Friday, June 2, 2023, and passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at the age of 88 at Paradigm in Bay City, formerly Bay Villa Health Care Center. She was the only daughter of four children born to Agustina Chavez and Remigio Guzman in the village of Zoyapilca, Queretaro, México.

She met her husband, Lawrence Daniel Crews and they moved to Bay City, Texas where they became the parents to Lawrence D. Crews Jr and Mary Ann Crews. She was widowed in 1971 and raised her two children as a single parent. She worked as a cook at various restaurants and BCISD.

She opened her own beauty shop, Mary Crews' Beauty Salon, where she did hair for many years. She also volunteered at Bay Villa Nursing Home doing hair for the residents there.

She was a member of the FOE Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years.

She is survived by her dog, Paco who currently resides with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bob Jimerson, Puyallup, and Washington. Grandson Lawrence Daniel Crews Jr., Palacios, Texas Great Granddaughter Isabella. Brothers Geronimo "Mito" Guzman of El Paso, Texas, Gregorio Guzman of Mexico, and two half-brothers Cliofas and Cleo Guzman of Mexico. Also, numerous family members living in Louisiana from her late husband's side of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Lawrence Daniel Crews Jr., sister-in-law Anita Guzman and brother Abran Guzman

Her family would like to extend a very, very special gratitude to the staff at Paradigm, Bay City, for taking care of her during her difficult times and her happy times. Also, a special gratitude to the hospice staff at Angels Hospice Care.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City, Texas, with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. 8:45 a.m. visitation and open viewing followed by 9:30 a.m. Rosary and 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck, Texas.
