Son of Jehu Chenoweth & Eleanor "Nellie" Skidmore, husband of Martha J Salisbury . Was among a group of civilians working on a road crew at Beverly, Randolph County, WV, taken prisoner and sent to Fort Delaware Prison, New Castle County, Delaware.
Included in this group was his father in law, William Salisbury, his brother in law, Jacob S Salisbury, and his wife Martha's uncle, Smith Crouch.
All died, due to Prison conditions, contaminated water, ect., and did not make it home.
Some prisoners bodies were shipped back home for burial, however most were buried at Finn's National Cemetery in NJ
