Glenview, Ill. -- Topeka Sailor Shot; Inquest Planned Today. A Coroners' inquest will be held today to determine the cause of gunshot wounds which Saturday killed Seaman Leonard Lyn Berberich, 21, Topeka. Berberich, whose foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Berberich, live at 601 W. 57th in Topeka, was stationed at the Naval Air Station, Glenview.

He suffered the gunshot wounds off base, the Glenview staff duty officer said Sunday. Berberich, a graduate of Washburn Rural High School, attended Emporia State Teacheres College before entering the Navy. Born Aug. 8, 1942 in Winslow, Ariz. Berberich was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka.

Survivors, besides his foster parents, include his grandmother, Mrs. John Berberich, Route 5, Topeka, and five brothers, Theodore B. Berberich, Wamego, Robert, Johnny, George and Charles Berberich, all of Kansas City, Mo.

Brennan Funeral Home, Topeka, will announce arrangements.
